Add your 4th of July Events in the Havre Area

Independence Day is nearly upon us and we thought it might be nice if some of our readers were to help us out and let everyone know of events they know are happening around our county this weekend. July 4th was the date that the Continental Congress adopted our countries formal Declaration of Independence and is the reason we celebrate each year.

We have been told that the annual 4th of July parade will not be held this weekend because of scheduling conflicts with the actual day falling on Sunday this year. The 4th of July picnic with various local bands and a free picnic lunch is still on tap to begin at noon on the 4th at Pepin Park.

Senate District 17 candidate Rowlie Hutton has invited Taylor Brown, from the Northern Ag Network to be in Havre at the Town Square from 4:00 to 6:00 pm on July 3rd. Rowlie is hosting a free BBQ and Taylor will speak at 5pm on “Getting Montana Back on Track”  Everyone is welcome.

Please feel free to add your events to the comments section so everyone can share in what is happening around our community this holiday weekend

  1. No parade because of scheduling conflicts? Did the date sneak up on the planners and catch them off guard? Who are these people that can't plan a parade on a Sunday for the nation's most important holiday. On a weekend? WOW

  5. It does seem like a weekend would be the best time to have a parade.

  6. There is still the fireworks display put on by the Jaycees Sunday night.

I would encourage everyone to buy their fireworks from the Jaycees booth as they are the ones that fund our free display. (they also need to make enough to pay for their new stand)

  7. I am guessing the scheudling conflict might have something to do with Sunday church services.

I too encourage everyone to purchase their fireworks from Jaycees!!

  9. Remember when Mayor Bob said that he would oversee the planning of the 4th of July parade and then spent the day in Canada? Havre has it all right. Now weekend scheduling proves to be too much of an obstacle for a parade? Yep,your whole town is a kick.

  10. Whose schedule is so conflicted that a 4th of July parade is just too overbearing to handle?

Two wars, hundreds of thousands of kids deployed to protect our freedom and Havre has scheduling problems getting a parade together to celebrate the 4th of July. I will never again tell anyone that I am from this sad excuse for a community. There's simply no excuse that is acceptable for this.

  11. Fitty, We posted the only two things that we are aware that is going on this weekend, one which happens to involve politics. We noticed that no one has posted one other event that is happening in Havre this weekend. You know of something else we are unaware of Fitty?

  12. Bill what the hell are you talking about? Bob Rice never planned the 4th of July parade or said he would. All 4th of July activities. past and present, were planned by a private 4th of July committee and I believe Kim Cripps was ans still is in charge of the parade.

As for Bob attending the Calgary Stampede in Canada? Yes you are right he went up there every Fourth as a guest of the Canadian Government and then on Festival Days he would return the favor and the Canadian delegation would come here.

You're just like Obama, can't let go of the past so he blames Bush for everything and you blame Bob Rice. Shame on you. You need a good swift "kick" in the you know what. Bob Rice is gone, get over it!

  13. Don't you mean Bob Wells is gone. He was still Bob Wells when he was given the choice of going to reform school or the service. Real stand up fella he is. Changes his name and comes home and runs for mayor. And still no parade. Yep,you guys are a kick in Havre.

  15. Funny you should be so taken back by something Rice/Wells did as a high school kid decades ago. It appears that he turned life around and was a productive citizen and you can be certain Bill that he did more work in his term as Mayor then you ever did in your career. Why don’t you give everyone a break and try to be positive about something/anything?

If you like Mayor Tim so much better then Mayor Bob why don’t you call him and find out why he isn’t doing anything about a parade? Or better yet……. Organize the dang thing yourself. I am sure there are a few people that will help you.

Railroader is right about you. You are always complaining and blaming someone but you never offer any suggestions that are positive nor do you ever offer to help. And speaking of a “stand up fellow” you don’t have such a glimmering reputation yourself Bill.

  16. Bill- if you don't live in Havre, which I assume since you refer to it as "your town," then why are you complaining about it? Why do you even care what happens in it.

I don't mean to be xenophobic, but to complain about a town you don't live in...

And Bill, yes we are a kick! At least I will be kickin my heels up at the 4th of July picnic!!

  17. I went to Hutton's Taylor Brown event today and it was fantastic! Big crowd, good food, good people! I will definetly be voting for Rowlie for the Senate.

I hope the picnic and music at Pepin Park tomorrow is even half as enjoyable and I will call my holiday weekend a success
