American Disability Act --- MSU-Northern

A news report by KRTV exposes some accessibility issues at MSU-Northern.  Any comments or ideas?

  1. I'm a bit surprised that the campus isn't already handicapped-accessible to a larger degree -- as a government agency, shouldn't it have been required to fully comply with ADA years ago?

  2. MSU Northern has been negligant on accessibility issues for years and years. My wife and I used to attend all the basketball games, but grew weary of going to find someone to open the back door of the gym, and many times not finding anyone. We finally stopped going to the games. There is NO EXCUSE for not making the campus more accessible. I hope someone holds their feet to the flame. After all, how many thousands of dollars were spent on the campus in the last couple years? And did one project improve accessibility? It's a college campus. The Ameicans With Disabilities Act of 1990 mandated accessibility on these facilities. That was 20 years ago. How long is it going be before MSU Northern decides to allow disabled the same rights as the able bodied public?

  3. The funny part is that the good old government boys are quick to jump down some poor local business man that is out of compliance with threats of closure and fines but they turn their heads to their own building that are sadly inadequate.

I am suprised they didn't just do it and send the taxpayers the over inflated bill long ago. Money seems to be of no concern in our education system

  4. Somebody should be ashamed and held accountable for not making college accessable for everyone.Heres a scenario,a student buys a new book for 120.00then they sell it back to bookstore for 20.00 in great condition, then the bookstore sells the used book,as used for 75.00.The universities are out to gouge Mom and Dad but won't help the people who need it most.
