Republican Rally on July 3rd in Havre has huge turn-out

The following pictures were submitted by a member of the Havre Republican Central Committee and were taken at a campaign rally and BBQ this past holiday weekend for Rowlie Hutton, candidate for Senate District 17, who is running against former Democrat Speaker of the House Bob Bergren.

The keynote speaker at this event was the owner of the Northern Ag Network broadcasting company Taylor Brown who stumped for Hutton and the rest of the local GOP lineup. The Republican Central committee reports that over 200 people attended this rally held on July 3rd in the Town Square.

We have tried to identify the notables in these pictures by the descriptions submitted to us so if we have miss-labeled anyone please feel free to post corrections. It looks like a good time was had by everyone attending

Senator Kim Hanson talking with Taylor Brown
Volunteer "chefs" Tom and Deb Bergren and crew
Independent candidate for Hill County Commissioner - Jeff Lavoi
Public Service Commission candidate - Travis Kavulla
The one and same Bill Thackery that takes Representative Warburton to task for being pro-life is now attending Republican rallies to hear her speak?
Professor Thackery takes a moment to "instruct" Representative Warburton on a thing or two .  I love how he uses his little note pad so he doesn't forget any of the "facts" for his next letter to the editor.

  1. I had already decided to vote for Hutton because he is an honest guy and I think he would vote sensibly.

The fact that a guy like Bill Thackary (who has caused problems at MSU-N all his teaching career) is against Warburton is cause for me to vote for her again

Great pictures. I saw the huge crowd at the square but forgot what was going on.

  2. Sorry if this shows up twice. Why I can't get my comment to post?

  3. I attended this rally on Saturday and it was a very uplifting experience. If the caliber of candidates and the enthusiasm of the people I met on Saturday at the Taylor Brown meeting are any indication Montana truly has a brighter future ahead of us.

  4. Truly tasteless villification of professor Thackeray.

Perhaps more of us should have showed up andb taken notes about what the tea baggers are planning next.

I just wish that someone in tie dye would have set up a big medical marijuana bong up in the middle of this anti abortion rally.

  5. DeConstructor - I attended this rally and what was really tasteless was this so called “professor” going around with his note book collecting his “data” for a future twisting of some facts in one of his tirades or letters to the editor against representative Wendy Warburton just because she has enough class to represent those that elected her instead of just voting along party lines. The pictures of your good classy professor are all that needs to be said. The local republicans actually showed some class by not confronting him even when it was obvious to everyone that saw him taking his covert operation notes that he was up his usual evil ways.

Funny thing is that the local Republicans have never sent on of their central committee members to a democrat function to likewise take notes and be obnoxious. Just a little difference in class I would say.

And I don’t recall one damn thing even being mentioned about abortion at this rally but then again that’s how you liberals roll – twisting facts and spouting BS without knowing any facts

  8. My hat is off to the handful of Democrats that showed up to this rally to support Rowlie Hutton in this Senate race over his democrat opponent strictly because he is the better candidate instead of blindly supporting whom ever happens to be the democrat in the race.

This was really a show of courage in a town where some Democrats absolutely hate anyone that is a Republican. I am sure they will receive some backlash because of their stand against an old party favorite. It seems to be true that some Democrats will cross over and vote for worthy Republicans if they think they are the better candidate, which is the way it should be, no matter what party you claim to belong to.

  9. Warburton does a good job and she is straight forward with her positions. I think we need some other honest people like her who care about getting people working and developing natural resources to fund education and government.

  12. LastChance I agree with you that Warburton has been a great representative. She considers whats best for the people in her district first regardless of what her party tells her to think. We need more people like that.

DeConstructor? Why are you always filled with such venom towards everyone? This is just a blog for goodness sake. I am insulted to always be called a teabagger just because I don't agree with you.

I have been praying for Mr Thackrey and I will pray for you also.

  13. I like how many of you bash Thackeray for attending a Republican event, but when Tea Partiers crash Democratic events, it's called patriotic.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I like how you guys all call people you don't agree with "tea partiers"

I will play along which democrat functions have these tea partiers crashed Fitty? Name the names so I can verify your obvious crap. Give us the when, where, how and why so we can all see how factual your crap comments are

    We are waiting

  15. Thackary has always been a trouble maker and back-stabber. He is living proof of what is wrong with the tenure system that is crippling our university system

It is amazing the kind of people Democrats will defend when they are one of their own party

  16. I happen to be a democrat and i can't see much good in thackery.I also plan to vote for Rowlie and Warburton because of their honesty.

  17. It was great to see non-partisan candidate Huston at both the Hutton BBQ and the 4th of July event. Why wasn't she introduced? Jeff Lavoi got to say a few words and he is an independent?? Hutton's event was uplifting and I think Rowlie is right on track. It wasn't an anti abortion rally, but there were a few comments about pro life. There is a difference and if you weren't there to hear the speeches you have no room to comment.

  18. Bill Thackeray shows up at everything with a free meal, he even goes to the hospital to drink their free coffee, now that's pathetic. Its good for Bill to go to events like this it may help him with his perspective.

  19. I wasn't aware that Mr. Thackery wasn't allowed to question Wendy on her views.

I assumed as a candidate that she has to be willing to be questioned by anyone, including those not in her party.

I know I have questioned some of the various people running for office on some of their stand points and platforms for why they are running.

I guess I will have to change my ways so I don't run the risk of being categorized as a dissenter.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have never heard anyone say anything against Thackery questioning Wendy on her views or on how she voted. What everyone is complaining about is how he sneaks around collecting little quips to play "gotcha" with that are utter nonsense. Like being pro-life and a member of a church for instance, or stirring up the kettle with the ACLU, or claiming to be a mamber of the Democrat Central committee when he isn't, and etc

  21. Please refer to caption: "The one and same Bill Thackery that takes Representative Warburton to task for being pro-life is now attending Republican rallies to hear her speak?"

    and

"Professor Thackery takes a moment to "instruct" Representative Warburton on a thing or two . I love how he uses his little note pad so he doesn't forget any of the "facts" for his next letter to the editor. "

Both which sound like he is being criticized for listening to the potential candidates and then questioning them or discussing their speeches.

  22. Cathy Huston is a joke. Still can't believe shes running with her past. Its a small town people dont forget all the crap she has pulled on people. All you have to do is google the Huston name. Between Cathy and her husband and brother in law you could read all day.

  23. Diane said: "Cathy Huston is a joke."

Really? Do tell. I googled her name, as you suggested, and don't see any damning info.

Further, neither her husband nor her BIL are running so what, exactly, is your point?

Personally, I favor Audrey Barger but either would be a fine, and fair, JP.

You wouldn't have some personal ax to grind would you?

    ReplyDelete
  24. SURELYYOUJEST11: I have nothing personal against Cathy Huston. I just dont think I should see the lady running for JP out at the bars drinking then getting in her car and driving ..But maybe she would be perfect for the job since so many Havre officals do it.And its www.badcopnews.com if you want to read about how she harassed a fellow employee.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Diane - Is she drunk when she leaves the bar? If not, what is the issue? Is she not entitled to partake in a completely legal activity?

Lastly, badcopnews is a defunct BLOG for crying out loud. Are you serious?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Surely is absolutley right. If you don't support Cathy then don't vote for her, plain and simple. You clearly DO have an agenda or axe to grind or you never would have posted hateful comments and blatant lies on an anonymous blog. Anyone that knows Cathy and the crap you are referring to knows the truth. I'll pray for you.

  27. I would just like to point out that I was in fact right about that despicable individual that I fed all those years with my tax dollars at the university. Bill Thackery’s letter to the editor in tonight’s paper is so full of lies and distortions that I am amazed he had the courage to claim that Representative Warburton wasn’t being truthful about her support of Northern. What this low-life piece of donkey dung failed to mention was that HB2 is the bill that funds all Montana programs, not just the University system. Warburton was one of the few that actually spoke against the bill because it was so full of expanded spending that it would have had our children paying the bill for century’s to come. Thackery is right when he says she voted against it and I am glad that she not only voted against but lobbied others to vote against it also until the agencies revised their budget requests.

So Thackery makes a rather absurd stretch of his imagination when he says she voted against funding for Northern, for the diesel program, and the nursing program which his candidate, Dana Sapp-Siedel graduated from when in fact all she did was vote against an expanded state budget.

If these claims by Thackery weren’t dishonest enough already, he further went on to say that “Unlike students who are place bound or not wealthy enough to travel to distant campuses, Warburton went to Lynchburg, Va., to attend Jerry Falwell's private Liberty University. Its website says Liberty's personnel have "a born-again relationship with “and "classes that expand their understanding evangelical Christianity," producing "leaders with values." He then asked where Warburton learned the leadership value of deception.

What the deceiving Dana Sapp-Siedel campaign kingpin forgot to mention was that Wendy was awarded a full scholarship to Liberty University and graduated with honors at the top of her class. I guess the financial genius of the Seidel-Thackery campaign strategy would have a family take out loans and incur debt so they could stay here in Havre and hear the tainted political views of professors with moral bankruptcy like Mr. Thackery. I also understand that good old Bill was the person that helped stir up Tretheway and Snider to file the recent ACLU suit against Northern so it appears he talks our of both sides of his filthy mouth. Thackery is lower than a snake’s belly slithering in a wagon rut. The fact that Dana has tied herself to the likes of Bill should give voters concern

You know I have to say it………………….I TOLD YOU SO!

  28. I know, I know

    I am a kick

  29. You may have been right Jimbo but I wonder if you missed the fact that all the other local Democrat “party people” have been enlisted to make systematic assaults on Warburton to attempt to discredit her to the voters? Bill is the one they have pushed out front to begin but Bergren and the rest are working behind the scenes to feed this information to the public. You don’t really think that Bill was smart enough to come up with this inaccurate view of House Bill 2 without advice from the likes of Bergren do you?

I didn’t follow the last legislative session all that close but Warburton must have thrown the monkey wrench in their over-spending, program expansion plans once too often so now she is targeted to be defeated by whatever underhanded means necessary.

There is no depth so low that these fine local democrats party hacks won’t stoop to win an election

I usually vote for people of both parties but I have decided to vote for Warburton just BEECAUSE of Bill Thackeray

    ReplyDelete
  30. why would anybody vote for a future scoundrel BECAUSE of someone else?
if you have noticed both parties have hosed you equally for your entire lifetime and before you existed...
your grandbabes are getting it as we speak.
there are big issues out there...
bill thackery is not one of them.
