2nd Amendment Legislation - What's it Really About?

Thanks to Redneck Joe for sending us this video clip of a testimony in the Texas Legislature a couple of years ago about carrying concealed weapons.  In light of the news coverage of all the controversial gun bills that have been coming before the Montana Legislature it really makes you think.

Suzanna Gratia-Hupp’s closing statement about what the 2nd amendment is really for was a powerful ending to this testimony.  I hope it makes you logically think about the bills that have come up in this legislative session.
Thanks again Joe

as a veteran and a lifetime nra member with 7 kids who are nra shooters...
i see at least 10-20 people every day i hope never show up with a gun.
    not everybody should have one.

i see the second amendment much like abortion. there is no real issue there...
but there is a whole lot of distraction value...
that keeps you from noticing that the iraq obligation in the war was forgiven by bush...
or that $18 bil in oil royalties were forgiven every year by the same dude.

there are roughly 20,000 gun deaths in our fair land each year.
law enforcement says almost 60% were killed with their own gun...
    no, not suicides.

  2. 2009 Murders with a firearm were 13636. The vast majority of these were criminals killing criminals. I didn't look long enough to see if the 60% were killed with their own gun. Sounds like some brady bunch babel. Of course if you count someone killing their self with their own gun a gun crime it might change the numbers.

  3. brady bunch babble???
two problems with the 2nd amendment...
one, it is, like abortion, a red herring...
it would require a constitutional amendment to remove it...
the american people probably would not go for that...
    not a real issue...
two, some people read it as a birthright...
if you believe EVERYBODY should be able to carry...
it's time to get off the farm and look at the rest of the world.
lots of folks out there would BECOME criminals if they were packing and angry.
i spent 6 years in the first state to outlaw handguns...
    gun crime went UP...
i'm not suggesting that as a solution...
    but...
look at the biggest nuts you know and picture them in your face with a gun.

  4. Most of the biggest nuts I know have guns and don't harm anyone.
If you can't be trusted with a weapon you shouldn't be on the outside of a cage.
The most dangerous weapon ever developed is the human brain. Oddly it is a weapon that is dangerous when it is being used and even more dangerous when it isn't.

  5. Johnson i would rather take my chances with a nut packing a gun than taking my chances with all these teen drivers texting or talking on their cellphones. You can include adult cellphone users in this statement also.
