HILL COUNTY COURTHOUSE

We are looking for accurate information about what has been happening at the Courthouse. Anyone willing to help out here? Reportedly, nearly a million dollars was spent on the basement remodel which unsurprisingly, is around 200 thousand buck over budget. Apparently the County Commissioners let one of their own, Mike Anderson, act as the “General” contractor in an attempt to keep costs down with disastrous results. We have been told that the fire sprinkler lines are freezing, climate control is uneven, computer wiring and the server is giving them fits, and to top it all off the front entry stairs are again not completed to specifications.

Wouldn’t you know it?

  1. Well I don't know many facts but have heard tons of whispers. What I do know is that the commissioner up for election this year, Mike Anderson, has heavily contributed to the city-County problem and bickering and needs to be retired.

Can't you file for his office here sometime in January? Someone needs to consider doing just that. The commissioners office pays great and has great county health and retirement benefits. Too great to have to put up with the poor performance of a candidate like Amderson

  2. I have heard a lot of negative comments about money wasted in various courthouse building projects. I guess what really gets me about the whole courthouse is the shabby treatment a person gets when trying to do business there and watching some of the employees working a half speed or sitting on coffee break while a line of taxpayers waits for service

And there are also good helpful people employed there too but this is a problem

  3. We still have more floors to renovate! The county should build a new complex in the 'county'. A one story ADA compliant building could be built for less than the basement and front stair debacle. Plus it would have parking! Leave the current courthouse to the historical society. This is a huge waste of tax payer funds with little comment in the mainstream HDN.
