Free commerce strikes again. The northern winz offers something the other casinos can't, so they will make a profit for a while for this reason. As for people complining about the smoke, it is a smoking business, so if you don't like the smoke, go elsewhere.
You are correct, it should be the right of each business. However, since Northern Winz just like any business on the reservation is exempt from any kind of state laws. So they will reap the benefits of not having to ban cigarettes.
And they also don't pay the same share of the gambling taxes to our city, county, and state like the casinos in town do so if smokers all go to the Norhern Winz who will make up that 30% decrease in gambling tax collected?
The real issue here is NOT that there is no ban on smoking on reservations. The issue is that banning smoking or any legal activity on private property is not constitutional. It makes me a little sick to my stomach...And very angry.
The clean indoor act was created by the Neo-Cons to invade your rights...soon to be the clean outdoor act...then a ban on all of your personal rights....you dont have "Private Property"...the Government can come in and move you off with a "Better" need and use of the property...NEW WORLD ORDER doesn't give you "Rights"...

ReplyDeleteIt isn't free commerce when one business is given preferential treatment and allowed to have indoor smoking while the rest are told they can't.
Free enterprise is where everyone has a level playing field and compete for the same group of customers on an equal footing.
To say "if you don't smoke, go elsewhere" should be the right of every casino owner to decide for himself
