YIPPEE! WE ARE GETTING ANOTHER UNNEEDED PARKING LOT

Does Havre need another parking lot? You may have noticed that concrete and pavement has been removed from the vacant lots where the Midtown gas station used to stand. When the 1st street construction project was under way back a couple of years ago it was our understanding that the State of Montana had purchased these lots and was going to have them paved for a parking lot at their expense and then donate them to the City of Havre. Former Mayor Bob at that time said it “would be a great addition to Havre” and he wanted to put one of his beloved picnic tables and a couple of those red-white and blue benches for the convince of the tourists.

Does anyone know if this is still the plan? (Minus the red-white and blue we would assume?)

Surely there would be something better that these lots could be used for instead of a parking lot as the Town Square is only a block away. If we keep our noses to the grindstone we just may be able to get the whole town turned into one giant vacant parking lot.

Take a drive down to the corner of fifth and 1st and see your tax dollars at work

  5. Yea lets get rid of Wendys with their crappy service. Burn down that filth pile they call KFC. Then get some decent food here. No, not you, you rich greek monopoly holding dick. Hold on to your money. let someone else make some. Craig shoulda kept that lot. Built another bar! hahaha like we need that! Havre has it! Alcoholics that is!

  6. Why dont they plant some grass. That would surely look better than some cement. Trees maybe? Why do people need to park there? Where could they possibly walk to that they couldnt from the parking lot they just built a block away? We have no say? Are we not paying for this? Where is our say? I dont remember anyone asking my opinion. Then again there is that short term memory thing i have.

  7. I do not think a parking lot is needed at that corner either. However, I take issue with the attack shawn made on the "rich greek". They don't hold a monopoly. They work long hard hours and they keep their money in Havre. They started with a little motel over 50 years ago and built up from that. What they do build they do with class, and they employee a lot of people in our town. Just because you are envious of someone's success, does not give you a right to call them names, but that is typical thinking coming from a "pothead".
Stop whining about the food in this town. If you don't like what is out there start your own restaurant or stay home and cook for yourself.

  8. Typical thinking of a pothead? I had no clue that you have went around and asked all the "potheads", as you put it, what they thought. Then gaged there answers and decided what was "typical". Interesting.

Paying people slave wages and making millions is not class! The average joe nobody barely survives working for these people.

I can whine about the food in this town if I want. How else could we possibly get new businesses or better ones unless people voice their opinions?

  9. LOL @ "slave wages". Now that is quite an hyperbole! FYI...new restaurants don't open up because they hear someone is whining about the food in a town. It is apparent that you have no idea what criteria needs to be met before a decision like that is made. And by the way, a typical "pothead" is stupid and clueless. You have certainly shown by your numerous posts on this blog that you have met that criteria.

  10. Shawn you were just on here a couple weeks ago telling everyone that you pay tons of taxes so you must have a few dollars. Why don't you start yourself on of these franchise eating places and start cutting into that greeks business. Don't forget to pay the higher wages too so you don't get too rich

Like usual you are all mouth and no action

  11. Like him or not Shawn that guy has done a lot for the community. What have you done?

  12. I know many people employed by them that do well. They can't pay waitresses ten dollars an hour. No one does.

How about lobbying to raise the minimum wage?

If you employed people you would know that it costs a lot of money to have employees.

And if you don't like the restaurants eat at home. Or as stated by others, open your own restaurant. See what it actually takes.

  13. An hyperbole? How long you been waiting to pull that one out. Killed it with the "an" though. So your telling me that a whole bunch of people can bitch about a business in this small town, and it could not possibly effect a business opening or closing? Wrong! Its called demand. If there is a big enough demand for something it will come. Typical pothead are stupid and clueless? All our founding fathers were "typical potheads". Obama was a pothead. I could go on all day. Many of the most important people in the world are or were potheads. I dont attack you for taking aspirin, which is much more dangerous than marijuana. How ironic that you could call people stupid while saying something so stupid. haha. I didnt say tons of taxes superman. I pay my share. How do you know if i take action? You know me? If they are making less than ten dollars an hour then they are not doing well at all Dandelion. Thats below poverty level. You cant tell me that he cant afford to pay them more. Give me a break. The rich get richer. Raising the minimum wage does nothing but drive the cost of everything up. What happened to the people already making 7.15 an hour before the min wage bump. Thats right they got higher cost of living and no pay raise. Not good. A few people getting a raise at the duck wouldnt effect the cost of living at all.

  14. Deconstuctor an Arbys would be great! Or Carls Jr/Hardees? I heard rumors of a Quiznos. Anyone else hear that?

  15. You are right, shawn, hyperbole does not require either a or an. However you do need to learn the difference between effect and affect. shawn, you are not a whole bunch of people you are only one. And if the fast food chains you mentioned are the examples of what you think would be better food and restaurants, then you have once again proven my point about stupidity.

  16. I never said you were stupid or anyone was stupid.

I don't know you, so I cannot comment on your intelligence.

I personally agree. I hate Wendy's. I refuse to eat there. However, a lot of people seem to like it since it is still there.

He pays what he pays. Complaining on this blog probably won't make him pay his employees any more money.

  17. Im stupid because i think Hardees is better than wendys mzmontana? What? Are you serious?
It starts with one person lady! Besides i know for a fact a lot of people bitch about local restaurants. I hear it all the time.
Hyperbole?!, what are you 60? Do you sit on a davenport? Are you finer than frog hair? Feeling ornery? Do you call your glasses bi-focals or peepers? Dag-gummit thats funny!

  18. Shawn I have been to some of the places you have mentioned and even if some of those people are only getting paid the minimum wage they are overpaid by about 5 bucks an hour. Why would anyone pay a higher wage for an employee that doesn't give a flip about their work? And there are some fine workers at each of these places also but I would guess they are making considerably more then the slackers

    ReplyDelete
  19. I wouldnt give a flip if i were making 7 bucks an hour either. But yes i do agree with you Rat

  20. Could someone involved in the resturant business please consider getting an Arby's franchise in Havre?

We seem to have enough taco stands and pizza places.

A high quality BBQ place would be awesome too.

  21. To bad it isnt big enough for a water park, lol

    ReplyDelete
  22. I agree Decon. A bbq pit or something would be great. Never too small for a water park!!!! A place like that would make crazy money, even in lil' ol' Harvey Montuna. Whens someone going to buy that old Greek restaurant and turn it into something good? That was just a bad idea. Greek food. Even Greek people dont like Greek food. haha

    ReplyDelete
  23. And no I do not hate Greek people. I love Zac Galifinakis!

When the state came and did the highway 2 project they had arranged to have street parking in front of the businesses on that block. They ended putting a turning lane in and all the businesses lost their parking on that block which was not part of the deal. So to compensate these businesses they are getting a parking lot with landscaping. I would have to say that anything will look better then what was there.
