HIGH SPEED RAIL SERVICE FOR MONTANA?

Would the addition of a high-speed rail system bolster Montana’s economy as claimed by our Junior Senator? Or is this just more political pandering for us, the gullible and naïve voters? Curiously, Senator Tester has not made any pleas to President Obama for the expansion of the life-line of Montana which is Highway 2. Where are his pleas for the 4-lane project to be included in the stimulus budget? Currently infrastructure spending in the stimulus budget is only of miniscule proportions.

We don’t even have a safe highway to drive on and here we have our “representation” going for another “pie in the sky” waste of Money instead of something reality based. Isn’t requesting something this bizarre sort of like one of those wasteful earmarks Tester campaigned against?

  1. Hi speed rail?

Is there something wrong with Amtrak? When I have been a passenger it seems to go pretty fast.

It just doen't make much sense. If you live in a more populated area, Southwest flies all over for $99.

Does it really make any sense to dump a double gob of money in passenger service to compete? or replace the service that is in place now?

It would make a lot more sense to put the money in tthe bank for a rainy day, or if it is needed for job creation to really use it right and rebuild the crumbling infrastructure (US 2 and 87), and improve communication (lets WIFI Montana!, Google is considering WIFIing North America)

If a bunch of money is going to be used, there should be some careful planning, unlike our school board.

  3. CON-

There are bigger things to worry about closer to home.

The government did cover up murders and drug trafficking in the north central montana area in the 90's. (might still be)
