ARE VOTERS HAPPY?

Some of the posts made on this blog are for the purpose of showing that some Americans, and likewise Havre residents, are not happy with what our political leaders are doing. Members of both political parties are unhappy and our blog isn’t meant to point a finger at any particular party. Members of both parties can be found that are doing and supporting idiotic things regarding our futures. Yes, both yours and mine. The following poll is from today’s Washington Post, which by anybodies standards, is not a right-wing lunatic paper. I do have some quotes from the Washington Times also, but we all would agree that they perhaps are a more right-wing venue. I am trying to keep this neutral as far as parties go but the facts are the facts.

  1. I have company insurance. Why should I be taxed more because I happen to work for a company where my insurance is provided? Some of my fellow crew mates are very upset that a guy we supported now wants to increase our taxes. I blame this on the Democrat party also. My mailbox is full of junk at election time telling I whould vote all Democrat because the party supports the Union,

Now I see they only support my vote, not me.

  2. I should clarify my position. I am an independant. I lean towards the Democratic because I have very liberal views.
If I have offended anyone by calling them a Republican, or offended anyone for accusing them of listening to the radical right wing, I am truly sorry. It is wrong to do something like that as it detracts from the opportunity this forum provides for open and honest discussion.
I do have some problems with the graphics you have presented.
I think many of the wrong questions were presented and there is an unclear presentation of the responses.
For example, the second question regarding peoples support of changes to our health care system. Am I happy with the changes NO. I would like to a single payer system that works very well in other countries (yes that includes Canada, talk to Canadians and don't listen to the smooth health care industry spin)
I say that as a person who has a very good health insurance plan, provided by my employer, and provided by the blood, sweat, and tears of generations of proud union activists.
Who would pay for national health care? The taxpayer is going to pay for a lot of it anyway its done.
That is a far deeper question than than smooth marketing ads make it out to be.
These fast talkers do take into account that emergency medicine is the most expensive option.
That is what is done now and without major changes will be the way of the future. People who do not have insurance wait too long to seek help, and require more expensive tratment that costs us all.
In addition, and probably costlier, is the fact that there is a generation of obese American children that will have greatly increased rates of diabetes and other costly health problems complicating this mess.
In addition, the biggest health care debacle (worse that thalydimide!) is the disaster of substance abuse treatment in the United States.
93 to 97% of American rehabs use a 12 step based treatment, promoting the disease model of addiction.
This is effectively using a fundamentalist, evangelical religious cult, as a basis of medical treatment. (VooDoo medicine)
This causes huge financial expenditures because of the fact that AA (according to its own internal corporate documents) has a statistically zero per cent success rate. This is probably another subject for another day.

I cannot help to notice that there are no Iraq questions in the graphics presention.

  3. I believe we all WORKS HARD. Some of us hold jobs or positions that we receive bennifits such as health care. NOw I pay about 300. 00 amonth for the Health package that is provided by the company that I work for. Now Baucus and Obama (no don't leave Baucus out cuz he came up with the idea to tax me on what the company puts in for my health care. Now if that is one of the ways and I say one of the ways that this Health care reform is to be paid for, well that is BS. They keep calling this reform.
    REFORM IS DEFINED AS
make changes for improvement in order to remove abuse and injustices; "reform a political system"
bring, lead, or force to abandon a wrong or evil course of life, conduct, and adopt a right one; "The Church reformed me"; "reform your conduct"
    produce by cracking; "reform gas"
break up the molecules of; "reform oil"
a change for the better as a result of correcting abuses; "justice was for sale before the reform of the law courts"
improve by alteration or correction of errors or defects and put into a better condition; "reform the health system in this country"
a campaign aimed to correct abuses or malpractices; "the reforms he proposed were too radical for the politicians"
change for the better; "The lazy student promised to reform"; "the habitual cheater finally saw the light"
self-improvement in behavior or morals by abandoning some vice; "the family rejoiced in the drunkard's reform.
These are some of the definitions of reform, but to better our health care system again at the cost to the hard working people of this country in my humble opinion is absurd.Making things better in this country for everyone but plunging our country futher into debt at the expense of the future generations in not reform in my eyes but but an immoral injustice from the 535 men and women we elected to make things better for this country and the people that live in this country. Remember how great nafta was when it was shoved down our throats, and look how great it has been for this country. YA RIGHT. I think our congress needs an enima.

  4. DeConstructor, needless to say, I disagree with you. However, if you have a CURRENT graph of some sort that would bash Bush or prove your point about something with Iraq I would post it if you like for discussion purposes. Just send it to our e-mail. I didn't expect that we would get people agreeing about everything when we stated this blog.

And since I run the blog, of course my opinion will be posted, but I am not opposed to posting yours also as long as it is labeled as the opinion of DeConstructor

  5. I notice it has been a few days and DeConstructor hasn't been able to find any graphs supporting the bashing of Bush as the cause of all these problems as well as those of Iraq Or is the Corrector just not posting them as promised?
