Salvia - A legal Hallucinogen?

Did anyone see this report on KFBB news last week about kids smoking an herb called Salvia? The crushed leaves are smoked to produce a hallucinogenic high which lasts about 5 minutes. Salvia is legal in Montana and KFBB News 5 reported that 3 stores in Great Falls carried the product on their shelves.

Does anyone know if this is being sold and used in Havre?

Here’s a link with a little more information about this herb. http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5290545

Here is a much better link describing what Salvia is all about courtesy of DeConstructor;     http://www.salviasociety.org/

  1. It is also sold in Havre's greenhouses, and has been for years.

It makes a very nice bedding plant.

It isn't much of a hallucigen. It is not nearly as fun as mushrooms or acid.

I would compare the high roughly to painting in an enclosed room with a good quality oil based paint.

  2. Daily DeConstructor Corrector:
The salvia being smoked by people is not the common houseplant type found in a greenhouse, but is an extract from the the most potent variety; salvia divinorum. The hallucinations are several times that of acid or mushrooms, but are very short term.

  3. The common bedding plant sold in local greenhouses DOES work. It DOES contain the same compounds found in the Salvia D strain.

Salvia is most commonly used to enhance sex.

Here is a good link from people that know what they are doing.

  8. THis does get used. Its a better plant for your garden then it is to use as a drug. I dont see it as a problem. Deconstructor nailed it on this one. Most people dont even know it has hallucinogenic properties.

  9. There are many legal herbs available, many at local tobacco stores. Sativah is a legal herb that produces some of the same effects as marijuana, just without THC. I think Salvia is dangerous if mixed with other drugs.
