HILL COUNTY ATTORNEY RACE MAY BE A HOT ONE

The Hill County Courthouse is abuzz this afternoon, no not with people diligently working, but abuzz with talk of Hill County Junior Deputy Attorney Lindsey Lorang, who dares to seek the office of Hill County Attorney against the current Democrat Incumbent Gina (Bishop) Dahl. Now that is going to make for a very interesting race considering that the two of them work in the same office with the same staff. We predict that tensions will be high and the “barbs” will be sharp. Nothing better than a good old-fashioned cat-fight to get the bloodletting started this election season. Word from the Courthouse has it that there has been more than a “little” discontent in the County Attorney’s office this past year. You may also recognize Deputy Attorney Lorang as the prosecutor in the former blog about a drunken college student and a wheelbarrow and heard the further grumblings about current County Attorney Dahl’s dismal record in district court. I can hardly wait to see how this campaign develops.

In the House races Havre resident Republican Kris Hansen has filed for HD 33 which is the seat being vacated by Incumbent Democrat Bob Bergren. Incumbent Republican Wendy Warburton has again filed for HD 34 which she won in a race against Democrat Perry Miller in 2009.

The Corrector hasn’t heard the reports of which, if any, of the other local seats for which people have filed.

Stay Tuned!

  1. Thats going to make for some interesting working conditions in the county attorneys office. I doubt thier win-loss record in court could get any worse however.

Isn't anyone new ever interested in trying for some of these positions? What will or can change if you never see any fresh blood?

  2. I see one new (or kind of new) Democrat name and two new Republican names so there is some fresh meat there for you anonymous

  3. I bet Lindsey will do better then the other one given a chance to decide what cases need to be prosecuted, and which ones lack enough evidence. I am sure that the fact that Gina is married to a sheriffs deputy makes her work extra hard on the cases her husband is involved in.

  4. Catfight-

If they want votes the should prosecute during the campaign topless.

Maybe Mike Anderson could add a strippers pole to the courtroom when he gets to remodeling the top floor.

Nobody would try to get out of jury duty.

This is going to be hot!

  6. To rorandell,

After all the writing about the drunk guy breaking into the house I checked some things out. Lindsay is the one who has the poor trial record. In fact, she lost one just two days ago. I also think that her husband works in the jail so there are no cases that come from him.

  7. In reality they both have poor win records. Gina's husband is a deputy sheriff and Lindsey's husband is in financial planning, stockbroker or something like that

  8. In fact Gina's husband does work at the jail. When a crime is commited at the jail who do you think it is that writes the charges up? Also is it not the County Attorney's job to only have her office persue cases that have have merit? Maybe the cases that have been lost should not have gone to trial.

  9. I think its funny that Lindsay, who got out of law school 2 years ago, thinks she can run the whole show. I think she's arrogant

  10. most of the people that work for the county or are elected to offices at the county are damn errogant

  11. We should really make Anderson the King cuz he seems to think he runs the whole damn show anyway. Lets just let him run all the department

  14. Lets just face it...the county commissioners are a 3 way comedy act all by themselves!! How can any Hill Co Resident just stand by and watch the fiscal irresponsiblity of this circus act?!! And there is no popcorn!!

  15. Look at the experience Gina has had in the County Attorney office. Lindsay has had next to none. Not to mention Lindsay is still very young and has a lot to learn. The fact that she thinks she is qualified for this position is absurd. As far as Gina's record on cases won vs. Lindsay's, besides the fact juries in this area are not the greatest, possibly you need to look at the type of cases each attorney deals with. Has Lindsay prosecuted any "hard" cases, most likely not as she is not even the Chief Deputy in that office!

  17. I think it's a toss-up between the both of them. Let's hope someone with some smarts and experience files for the position

Are you for real? You honestly think that Lorang has more experience than Dahl. Dahl has been in the office for 9 years and done a way better job fiscally than Cindy ever did. Christ Cindy tried everything she could to bankrupt the county! At least Dahl is more fiscally responsible on county time. And that is absurd that her husband being a county deputy has anything to do with how cases are ruled. It is up to the prosecuting attorney and the defending attorney to proove beyond a reasonable doubt and we all know how the attorney's in this town do their respective jobs. Either you can prove it or not. And as for juries in this town you are talking about local members of your commiunity that YOU chose to live in!

  20. Okay you are right I guess I jumped the gun no one did say Lorang had more experience, my bad.
But maybe you should be aware of whom the Personnel Officer is for the employees of the County its not Dahl it is Emily Mayer - Lossing so where is the NEPOTISM claim now? I mean think about Havre and whom is realted to whom do a head count at the county level and you will find there are many people who work there that are realted. We live in a small town we have overlapping situations and I do not believe the county is the only entity in this town that has that. So the NEPOTISM claim unvalid.
As far as my claim for the fiscal responsiblity go and look it up I sure did when I had concerns and it is a fact and public record. Cindi costs this county a lot of money!
Also the itelligence level, you want someone with "some intelligence and experience" to run for the office. What are you basing her intelligence on? Do you know have you seen some score on an intelligence scale that makes you some expert on how to rate one's intelligence? Or is this just a one time meeting of either of them and just rule them stupid because they are female? I mean what about Rice was he stupid I guess I would call for a comparison on the intelligence level!
