HAVRE SCHOOL BOARD SCREWS TAXPAYERS IN YET ANOTHER BEHIND THE SCENES SECRET MEETING

The Taxpayers have been harpooned with the big screw again. Whine, whine, and whine about never enough money to go around in our finely administered School District. Ballots for mill levy increases every damn year and sometimes twice a year to fund this or that at the biggest tax sink-hole in Hill County even to the point of wasting more money than the County Courthouse if that puts things in perspective for our readers.

The HDN reported in tonight’s paper that the resignation of Superintendent Mahon came when the board offered to buy out his contract. For how much you say? Like a new wristwatch and a plaque of appreciation maybe? Hell No, this is an Elitist School administrator after all. The HDN reports that Mahon is to receive his full pay until his contract is complete on July 1 plus all his benefits. Now he makes $97,000 a year so that would be about $8,083 per month x the remaining 5 ½ months or about $45,000. Now if that isn’t bad enough the Havre School Board also voted to give Mahon an additional years pay, or another $97,000 to get him to just go away. They pissed off in excess of $150,000 plus the cost of his benefits and they won’t answer any questions. Everything is top-secret any time you ask question of the School Board. If Mahon didn’t do anything wrong and just resigned why pay him off? If he was guilty of something then why give him a letter of recommendation for future employment? We want answers from the School Board and you can just shove that “we can’t say because it is a personnel matter” crap right back up where the sun doesn’t shine.

What other business, or for that matter even government entities pay off resigning help this way? This is pure bullshit at tax-payers’ expense. I wonder did the football coach likewise receive a bonus when his employment ended. Apparently Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have come to Havre unbeknownst to the rest of us and had a little private management training with our School “Administration”. This is just the beginning. You may have noticed in our previous blog that the board also couldn’t answer any questions about the bungled up High Land Park school addition either. Everything is a big secret, but now I can see why.

Three positions are up for election this May. 1 for a one year term, and 2 for a three year term. The only requirements are that you be at least 18 and a registered voter in District 16 and have lived in the district for at least 6 months. The election will be held on May 4th and the deadline to file is March 25th.  BE SURE AND TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS TO VOTE NO, NO AND HELL NO! on any and all future mill-levy requests that come from this gaggle of idiots.

If you like this decision do nothing. If you are infuriated like we are give your local tax-spending idiots a call and tell them how you feel, after all, it is your money they are spending. What a slap this action is to the local tax-payers struggling in this economy.

  1. Do the math. A person that works at a fast-food like my daughter would have to work for 10 years to even earn this much and our school board just gives it away?

  2. AND WE THOUGHT THE DEAL WITH HIGHLAND PARK CONTRACT WAS BAD. BEND OVER TAXPAYERS!

  3. Let me see if I got this straight. He earned 97K for this year plus benefits and then an additional 97K over the next two years. That's at least $194K for a little over 6 months of work. Folks that's over $27K a month!!! Where do I sign up! That's way better than any plush union job I could ever hold, heck that's more than some of my bosses make and BNSF is owned by the world's richest man, Mr. Warren Buffett! It never ceases to amaze me what group think will do. It seems that under Shad Huston's leadership the hush parade prevails, but nothing gets done! It's bon voyage Mahon and he's laughing all the way to the bank! For those keeping score we have the Highland Park Schoo Building addition and Mahon, we have the Courthouse steps, the basmement remodel and just plain ineptness all around, lawsuits, annexation, you name it we got it. That's like Tax Spenders 7, Tax Payers 0! Scott Brown can you come to Havre, please??

  4. So much for the highly-educated bunch. I hope the new superintendent starts a class at the high-school to teach common sense, something obviously lacking in our school board

  6. With all this spending and building going on did anyone at HPS stop and ask themselves "is our children learning?" George W did! Come on! Are you guys serious? I hope the Board realizes just how stupid they look, just ask George!

  7. I would like to set the record straight, because the local paper can't get the facts right.

I am writing this to protect a couple of young women that may be getting more bad press than they deserve.
I had some pictures taken after my computer was hacked. There were some pictures of me with a couple of gals that were stolen and copies of them were exchanged through students cell phones in the area.

These pictures were not pornographic, they were art. I was in love with these girls. I am a very good photographer and I consider the human body to be beautiful.
My attorney advised me to fight this as the girls are now above the age of consent. Contrary to a local rumor, I did not take one of these students to get an abortion.

So I quit. I resigned. I am now on a beach and really do not care what the people of Havre think about me.

They signed a contract with me, and they owe me the money. I am highly educated, and I really don't care if a bunch of hillbillies are upset at the fact that I am owed money. PAY UP!

Also, this page is not actual news. It is a few people that think they know things they don't. You are little people in your own little world. As far as I am concerned- kiss my brown eye blue.

  8. We at the Corrector find it hard to believe that the real Superintendent would post on our blog using his own name. We think we are being spoofed but are going to make some calls today to find out more information.

Can anyone out there verify any aspects of the alleged “Dave Mahon’s” comments? Does anyone know if he could be on a beach? Where is he? Has anyone heard anything about girl’s pictures? Was Dave an amateur photographer?

Anyone want to give us some more of the “facts”? e-mail us at havredailycorrector@bresnan.net if you are shy about commenting here
    Thanks

  9. Who really shot JFK? Maybe when we die and go to heaven we will get all the answers to our questions.
Maybe the school board thinks we can't handle the truth. As an elected official are they not supose to represent the people that elected them. I really hope they fess up to the public, and tell us what is going on. I do not know about the rest of you but I am really confused. Will Shad come out and give us another story that we are to believe, I think not. If a person has personal problems and quits his job, why is he rewarded?
Or did the board relize they made a mistake and legally not have enough on him to get rid of him? Is that why he was paid off? I think the people of Havre need to demand an explination. And the school board owes the people the truth.

  10. The school board is too quiet on this.
It is like watching an illusionist pointing at an empty top hat just a little too long to show it is empty.
Is there anyone in the Supt. office that the Corrector could talk to?
It seems like with the cat fight going on at the county attorney's office that someone close to the situation (in the office) might talk.
This forum would be an excellent place as they do not have to attach their name.
This entire situation just smells bad.

  11. Thanks Dave for the explanation, us dumb inbred hillbillies is not cultured like u is and don't know much about all you city slicker ways. What we do know about though is a shakedown and this is what it smells like. YOur story seems to be changing from group to group and day to day. Can you hear the banjo music playing? I do! I wouldn't go rafting anytime soon on your vacation Dave ya never know when were gonna jump out and grab yer sorry butt!

Give me a break! There is way more to the story than meets the eye, keep up the good work Corrector!

  12. Whoever pretended to be Dave Mahon has a very sick sense of humor. Your stupid ranting in that post and the gossip creating message is not information I look for. This type of information sells newspapers – next time go the HDN with your brainless story – see how far that gets you. Many of us consider this blog to be a reasonable place to voice our opinions and views. In my opinion YOU NEED TO GO AWAY – I am sure there is some porn blog you can post and masturbate too! In my limited involvement with Dave and his wife - this no way represents either of them. Regardless of the reasons of his departure; I still believe the golden parachute is too much, we need to hold the school board accountable for their judgment (or lack thereof). Maybe they hired him under false pretenses and/or he really didn’t understand the entire requirements of the job – again the school board!

  13. What makes me mad about this is that most of the schools money comes from property taxes. I had to borrow money to pay my property taxes this year. I still have 7 payments left and they have already wasted everything I sent them and that of another 100 property tax payers in my range also.

    Nice........very nice

Does anyone have any interest in starting one of those tax protesting Tea Party movements in Havre?

  14. Like the Havre Daily News reported this will affect our future. It will affect any pay raises, supply needs, probably needed upkeep and who knows what else. I hope we get an honest answer to this situation.

  15. The more I hear about this the madder I get. Let’s say we just granted the board some slack and accept that they rationally decided that the wasting of a couple hundred thousand dollars was necessary for some valid reason. We will never know because we are not wise enough to understand these huge monetary decisions like our school board members that are so much smarter than us dumb plain people.

The secrets and backroom dealings is what make me the angriest. It is my money they are spending and I want to know what happened for someone to receive this much money for doing nothing

Jimbo may just be on to something with his Tea Party comment. They could make a march on the school board meeting next week to protest or even dump the board members in the harbor

  16. Maybe since we will paying the old super for the next 2 years we should just do away with the figure head postition and let say give all the dept heads a $5,00 raise and have them answer to the school board or better yet make the position 1/2 time like the county superintendent. I am sure we can afford $50,000 a year for the new superintendent.

  17. What happens next year when they have to ax some of our teachers because not enough money in the budget. 97,000 would pay the salerys for four teachers for one year at the base. The board keeps saying it is all about educating our children, what happens to our education system when they have to start cutting things out?
