  3. With all due respect thomas, you should broaden your perspectives a bit =) and take a closer look before you take sides. We could be bitchin' about bush, or about obama, we can play the blame game all day, but it gets us nowhere. The CNN video in this blog post shows an up-front map of unemployment in the entire United States. Being from Havre, and living in Seattle for the past 5 years, I can tell you firsthand how this economic crisis has affected me. As well as, how grateful I am for the steps our government has taken to help me. Without COBRA i would have had no Insurance while out of work. And if it were not for the federal tax cuts, I wouldn't have been able to bounce back nearly as quick. I can't agree with everything Obama has done, nor did i agree with everything Bush did in his presidency. However I have gained respect for this administrations broad response to our countries current crisis. On that note

This is an interview by the Brookings Institute done with Gary Burtless, that took place on 3/17. It talks about the state of the economy, unemployment, and job loss, and there are alot of good questions and answers here that are relevant in relation to the economy in Havre. Thomas, you are obviously worried about national healthcare, and its impact on the economy; you are upset about increasing taxes and its easy to blame the democrats. However, if you look closer, you can see that we are not wasting these taxes, but taking care to spend them better. We can do better, but we have already done worse, otherwise we wouldn't be where we are right now.

  4. Government always wants to increase its control and grow its power. Democrat or Republican they all want more power over our lives. They do that by controlling the money through taxes. It just so happens that TODAY the Dems want to increase govt control and raise taxes- in the past the GOP has also been on increasing the growth of govt. A wise man once told me that money is always used most effectively in the hands of the person who earned it. Real employment only happens in the private sector.
