James Carville on the Oil Spill - Did you Hear "Bushes Fault?"

James Carville is one of President Obamas most staunch supporters.  I wonder how he will spin this tale to make it all "Bushes Fault"?

Unbelievable!  A Democratic Party Big-shot like Carville dares to sppeak out against the "Anointed one"?

Will wonders ever cease?  Are you sure someone can't say this is Bushes fault?

  1. This whole thing is the biggest problem in the world right now. It has become a Global disaster. I know this happened in the U.S but this really is a global problem. Why arent there a team of world scientists and underwater drilling and welding companies working on this? Lets get it fixed then worry about who is at fault and who must pay.

  2. Last year the Obama administration granted oil giant BP a special exemption from a legal requirement that it produce a detailed environmental impact study on the possible effects of its Deepwater Horizon drilling operation in the Gulf of Mexico, an article Wednesday in the Washington Post reveals.

Federal documents show that the Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) gave BP a "categorical exclusion" on April 6, 2009 to commence drilling with Deepwater Horizon even though it had not produced the impact study required by a law known as the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The report would have included probable ecological consequences in the event of a spill.

The exemption came less than one month after BP had requested it in a March 10 "exploration plan" submitted to the MMS. The plan said that because a spill was "unlikely," no additional "mitigation measures other than those required by regulation and BP policy will be employed to avoid, diminish or eliminate potential impacts on environmental resources." BP also assured the MMS that any spill would not seriously hurt marine wildlife and that "due to the distance to shore (48 miles) and the response capabilities that would be implemented, no significant adverse impacts are expected."

  4. I am suprised that he didn't mention that British Petro was Obama's largest contributor

Nothing like the response Bush got with Katrina. I guess if the people killed or even the owners of the fishing boats had been black Obama would have rushed in

    He is a bigot

  5. HDC--The fact is, James Carville has NEVER been an Obama supporter. In fact he was just the opposite until Obama won the nomination. (Carville supported Hillary with a vegence.) As a Democratic hack, he obviously supported Obama over McCain but this comment is hardly a surprise to those who follow politics.

  6. 38 days after inauguration and he hadn't cleaned up Bush's oil mess in the MMS yet. What a slacker. Yep, you guys are a kick.

  7. Well Stephen I do follow politics quite closely and you are right the Ragin Cajun did support Hillary for President, but wouldn't you expece that? The Clinton's made Carville a household name in political circles and he owes them his life and they him to some extent. However, Carville is a staunch supporter of Obama and was so during his Senate campaign as well.

I think this story is important in light of the parallels between this and Katrina where the Ragin Cajun was equally as vehement in his defense of his homeland and his cry for assistance! Not to mention its a hoot to watch!

  9. Not going there. If you think Obama is to blame for the oil spill, fine. If you think Bush and Brown did a bang up job on Katrina--equally fine.

Wouldn't a debate on how to fix this or even a discussion on how to prevent this in the future be more productive? I know we are not scientists or engineers but....

I came on this board, as most people know, to try to point out that we need desperately a new county attorney here in Hill County but occasionally get sucked into a few other topics.

When that C.A. race is over, I will likely get off this board. I absolutely abhor what's going on in this country with the left vs. the right media thing. It's opened up this huge market for the likes of Michael Moore, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter and James Carville to become multi-millionaires by simply bitching. (Would Dick Morris be homeless if he weren't on Hannity every night?) They rarely offer any solutions--they just bitch and fight and write books in which they bitch some more--all the way to the bank. And almost all of them follow thier party's line 100%, which should make us suspect their motives.(I will slightly excuse Rush and Frankin, who started this mess, because at least Rush is entertaining as hell, and Frankin got off his ass and ran for office.)

Thank God we live in a country that allows this, but I want no part of it. It's not debate, it's just pissed off people trying piss someone else off or a right or left-winger blindly following the party line. (And I fully admit I am guilty of some angry rhetoric--another reason to stay away. Contrary to my posts, Gina Dahl is not the anti-Christ. She is merely a horrendous, tax-wasting, problem-causing bureaucrat. Uh-oh, there I go again! But my motives are not based on follwing the party line.)

  10. Stephen, I have to agree with some of your post. Our country has become more politically polarized in the last 4 years than ever. I also agree with most of your examples, with the exception of Michael Moore. While he is a staunch Democrat he isn't afraid to call out the mistakes of his own party...have you seen Capitalism, A Love Story? Also he offers many solutions and suggestions, you should check out his website. His movie Sicko was a huge eye opener into not only our sad, pathetic healthcare system, but health care systems around the world. He sights all of his factual sources so you can check them out. He has offered a 10,000 dollar reward to anyone who can debunk any of his facts in the movie and has never had to pay that debt. I also have to wonder why anyone would waste their time watching either Sean Hannity or listening to Rush....those two and Glen Beck are just big mouths who say outrageous BS to get ratings. Sad thing is, too many listen to them and actually believe what they are saying....I have to say IMHO Americans are generally ignorant to what is really going on in our country politically. I a not by any means saying Democrats have it all figured out either. We need a non polarizing Independant party who wants only to make our Country better and not be in it for the all mighty $$.

  11. Red--Beck is just the worst, well no Hannity is right there next to him. Beck is a slimy little con artist while Hannity is a fake patriot faking mock anger all the way to the bank. I hate their shows equally--far more than any politician right or left.

I still say Rush is at least funny sometimes. The way he pushes buttons just to get a laugh kind of amuses me. And the song parodies are awesome. Hannity compltely and utterly lacks any humor, irony or wit (and it's just embarassing when he tries.)

But I do worry about people who blindly follow every word that comes from the mouths of these clowns.

I think Michael Moore is a mega-talented filmmaker but enough already with the exaggerations and conspiracy theories. If you are in the right, there is no need to make crap up or spend time looking for stuff that just isn't there. I still think his best film is Bowling for Columbine, which probably contained the least amount of inaccuracies. As for him making claims that it's all true--I am sure he has a spin process in which every fact can somehow be called "true" but I think common sense says otherwise.
